I've been an athlete and fitness enthusiast my whole life. At 32, I found myself in a Philly suburb studio, in a hot vinyasa practice , mat to mat with 24 other people, with a charismatic instructor who "saw my potential" , who happened to take me under his wing and taught me the ropes to Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga. Soon I found myself working at that very studio at the front desk, just so I could be involved in everything the studio had to offer! Yin, Hatha, Vinyasa and exploring Mysore... I loved it all. I developed a strong asana practice and took that with me when I moved to Upstate NY, and ultimately back home to Lancaster PA.
With life's twists and turns, I lost any consistency with my practice, and really had to just rediscover myself after a lot of hard life lessons. I did zero yoga for about 4 years!
After some health challenges and lots of encouragement from my husband and my doctor, I found yoga again. But this time was different.... This time I found the headspace to go with it. The meditative side. This is what was missing all those years ago with my practice, and now, I am on the journey to becoming a true Yogini. I have discovered the beauty in the breath to help me not only on the mat, but in the saddle with my mare Gia, at home, with family.. literally with every day tasks.
Join me in rediscovering your inner self, and letting your strength in both body and mind shine.
Much love,
Lauren
Fire Yoga.. is this hot yoga?
This is not hot yoga! Fire is in reference to the Phoenix in my logo coming out of the lotus with flames.
Do I need yoga experience to come to class?
Nope! Just let me know before class starts that you are a beginner, or newer, and I will be sure to help you and offer modifications to make your practice comfortable and personalized. The Ashtanga class is best suited for people with some experience.
Also, fun fact: I offer Beginner Workshop Series 3x a year to help you get super confident to walk in to any studio! Ask for details
I'm not flexible at all, is that ok?
100% ok! Your practice is your own. Yoga is way more than flexibilty and if you can touch your toes. It's about learning to control your breath and your mind... to give yourself a sense of calm in all that you do. The strength and mobility is just a super cool secondary bonus that comes along with a consistent practice.
Do I need my own mat or props?
I encourage everyone to purchase their own mat. I do have a limited supply of blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets to aid in any modifications or assists that you may need available in both locations.
